Warnings From Riverton

Citizens of Elmerton,

We have received word that slavers are headed toward Elmerton with a group of enslaved persons. Please keep on the alert as they may be looking to take more people hostage. The slavers may appear in disguise, so take caution when with strangers. Do not travel alone, especially at night, and do not leave children unattended.

Respectfully,

Magestry’s Best of Enlightening 124

Here are our picks for the Best of the June 27th-29th, 2014 event:

Best PC

“I would follow her into battle any day.”

Dawn Coolidge really shone this event in her role as Lex Mitorae. Whether it was knocking down Hyurog bodily and feeding on him, or standing at an anvil creating things to help protect the town or delegating responsibility, she did an amazing job in her last game as Lex, and lots of people noticed. Here are words of praise from your PELs: “Lex had some great moments during her last game. [She] showed definite enthusiasm and acceptance of responsibility.”
“Lex was great this event- [she was] gettin [stuff] done, and I was glad to be able to help”
“Lex did a great job running with all the different plots she had going on this game. She was super busy but handled them all superbly. And when she couldn’t do things herself, she delegated like a boss.” “Lex was amazing, planning with both her generals and keeping the town in the know. I would follow her into battle any day.” Congrats, Lex! You deserve this!

We are truly fortunate to have another remarkable new NPC on staff who has quickly found her place at the game. This month’s Best NPC, Cara Backman*, came to us a couple of events ago and has really shown us what a wonderful person, nevermind NPC, she is. Cara is just a wellspring of energy, enthusiasm, helpfulness, and volunteerism. She is constantly helping wherever she can, whether it is with cleaning or crunching or setting up mods or diving into role-playing. She is often one of the first people at the camp to help set up and one of the last to leave at the end and she does it all without complaint. We are so happy that she finally came to game, and even happier that she is on staff. Though this is a paltry “Thank you” next to what you actually deserve, Cara, know that we truly mean it. Thank you!

Banta Kinswae Attack Irvanshirian Guardsmen

Several members of the Irvanshirian Guardsmen were viciously attacked by a number of members of the group known as the Banta Kinswae in the first few days of Stillbreeze. The attack occurred during a Security Training Assessment. A Lav’Endros caravan was moving through The South Farthings when it encountered a security training checkpoint. The checkpoint was to designed to assess the adequacy of the defensive responses of the Noble House using a staged attack. Once the initial phase was carried out, the Guardsmen would reveal themselves as such to the Nobility and provide a report on their response time and tactics. Any weaknesses in defense would be recorded and a group of the Guardsmen would be provided to train the Noble Guard appropriately. All Irvanshirian Noble Houses received missive of the possibility of encountering the checkpoints and were instructed to halt their defensive actions once the Guard had revealed itself.

After the initial phase of the Lav’Endros Training Assessment, during which many of the Lav’Endros guards morphed into what appeared to be Wolf-men or werewolves, the Guardsmen revealed themselves, but the defensive actions of the Lav’Endros guard did not stop and, in fact, became increasingly violent. Five of the six Guardsmen were killed and the other was seriously wounded before the Lycanthrope guards backed down.

Several Noble Houses are outraged over the incident, noting the severity of the tragedy and the apparent inability of the Banta Kinswae members to control their violent tendencies while in Lycanthropic forms- a characteristic of the members of the fringe group that is one of the most important facets binding the pack together and which distinguishes them from other dangerous Lycanthropes. Additionally, the ability of the leaders within House Lav’Endros to control its members and guards was questioned by several Noble Houses as well and has been a topic of concern amongst the Irvanshirian nobility.

Though House Lav’Endros has issued a apology for the attack, especially to the families of the victims, they have not offered comment on whether or not the guards were out of control of their forms during the attack or whether the violence was deliberate. In either instance, the potential danger surrounding the House and the Banta Kinswae is almost palpable. However, it is rumored that measures are being taken to keep the situation from occurring again and to insure the safety of the non-lycanthropic nobility of House Lav’Endros as well as her constituents and the people she serves.

Second Hatchport Brawl to End In Flames

Approximately two moons ago, a tavern brawl resulted in the popular Rusty Mug Tavern and Inn burning to the ground. The fire was thought to have been started by a torch or candle being knocked to the ground and rolling into a tapestry. All patrons made it out of the Tavern mostly unharmed but the owner has not yet figured out who was responsible for the blaze.

Several days ago, another fire consumed a beloved Hatchport establishment. The Blue Messenger caught fire late Weepingday evening. Prior to the fire, The Blue Messenger was said to be full of patrons. A witness recalled seeing a small cluster of goblins huddled in the corner of the building, acting strangely. He is certain that they were responsible for the destruction of the Blue Messenger.

“One minute, they were yelling and screaming at each other and the next, they started laughing like fiends, one by one. They starting swaying around, holding their bellies with laughter. I am not sure if one fell into the kindling pile or if it was pushed but the kindling got too close to the fireplace and lit right up. The goblins scattered and the rest of the patrons began to panic. The room was too tightly packed to get water onto the fire.Once enough people cleared out, it was too late. Black smoke started pouring through the windows so I couldn’t be sure but I thought there was a human with them too. They might have been wearing a purple hat.”

The town is considering pooling their resources to build a solid stone establishment that will be much less susceptible to fire. Anyone with information on the goblins who frequented The Blue Messenger or who wish to donate to the Tavern Fund are encouraged to contact the Hatchport Town Guard.

Regarding the Position of Magistrate in Elmerton

Citizens of Elmerton.

Recently I have met with both your current Magistrate Oliver Finnestera and your former Magistrate Rakesh and in lieu of our discussions I judge that you are capable of continuing to administer decisions of enforcement of the laws amongst yourselves and that you are not in need of House intervention.  That being said, I am interested in meeting with any of you who feel are an acceptable candidate for Magistrate before reaching any final decisions on the position of Magistrate of Elmerton.

I ask any interested party to meet with me at the Amphitheater at two and half bells on the 30th day of Stillbreeze.  The prerequisites of the position include a letter of recommendation, residency within Elmerton on a regular basis is a strict requirement, and have at least one second to help in the administration and execution of the position of Magistrate.   In the event the Magistrate must travel it will then fall to the House Lav'Endrossecond to preside over the town or to contact the House for a temporary Magistrate to step in.

In the interim, please continue to accord your Magistrate Oliver Finnestera all due respect as, until I determine otherwise, he remains your Magistrate.  I look forward to meeting you.

Gatekeeper’s Sights Set on Elmerton

My master was good for a very long time. You interested him, all of you did. Your fighting spirit, your good cheer in times of unspeakable horror, the very fabric of Elmerton… it’s quite fascinating. Although he tested you all at various times he never intended to bring any of you true harm.

He never intended to destroy Elmerton, he just understood that spirits as strong as all of yours would do us very well in building the true and pure realm of death. He even entertained the idea of asking a few of you to maybe join him in our… my cause. He figured that once you were all able to wrap your minds around it, you would realize that what we intend to do is the future and what is truly the correct path for all that live on Magesta.

All that however is now behind him. You have all forced his hand and have noone to blame but yourselves. We want you to remember that as you gaze into the pool of blood, and you lay breathing in those last few precious breaths before meeting him in your afterlife for judgement. He wants you all to remember that as you hear the screams of the innocents, that you have forced us to damn. He wants you to remember that as you see your buildings burned to the ground, your farms destroyed, your lands scorched, and all that you believe to be true proven false. He wants the screams of your friends and loved ones to echo in your ears as you beg for a mercy that will never come, and he wants you to remember that all of this future carnage is on all of you.

Hearkin was his plaything. He was to be the leader of our forces, and much more merciful than what will now befall you. His family owes a debt that none of you clearly understood the depths of. By taking him out of my masters control, you have forced him to go to the man who stayed out of your world only by his good graces. Make no mistake this man is walking death incarnate. The irony of it, is that he was only freed of his inescapable prison by your town’s efforts. The fact that he will now repay that with your death is almost too perfect.

He goes by many names: The Hated One, The Forgotten One, The Killer of Worlds, The Terror of All, and many more that he has more than earned in his many years. You all know him by his true name however, and it will be the last thing you curse as your life is snuffed out by the end of his blade. You have left us with no choice, and if my words have you terrified than you are at least smart enough to understand what his appearance means, and how serious your transgression against my master was.

Live in fear for the Gatekeeper has set his sights on all of you….Carzon Sazdar will take your lives. It will be my master that takes your spirit, and my master, much like him, will show no mercy. Blame none but yourself, judgement comes for you all. Make yourselves ready…..

GatekeeperDark days are before you!
