Tzigane Life Ritual in Woods Instead of Wagon?

People of Elmerton and the Lands Surrounding,

I am a servant of Aeumbei, Incarnation of Life. I came to the Elmerton area because I was informed of life energy rituals that were being performed by groups of tzigane. While I was not able to witness any of these rituals, I was able to tell that the energy and Agreement that was flowing from them were not serving to strengthen Aeumbei. Instead, it seemed to settle around the area where the rituals were performed. A colleague who knows more about the area suggested that it may be due to the nature of the magical and elusive Evernight Forest, though he could not be sure.

If you have any additional information on this matter, please give it to local Allegiant Minister, Oliver Finnestera so that he may pass it on to his superiors in the Allegiant.

LifeThank You,

When Darkness Falls

It happened in an instance of forever, as things tend to do in the Evernight. Perhaps it was the stress theDCIM100GOPRO Dreamers faced with the atrocities committed against the Dark Walker (how would you feel if you had a leash wrapped around your neck?) or perhaps it was the massive wave of Psychic energy that washed through the grove on Fortuneday, the 11th day of Reapingdusk. Well, some say it was the 11th day- others swear it was the 10th. Pfft. Time in the Evernight, y’know. Either way, this wave of Psychic energy swept through the grove with one goal in mind: to break Control! And it did! One, two, three, four, five Dreamers awoke from their sleep and screamed or babbled or broke or grinned or laughed and then, one-by-one, left the area. And then the whispers came. And the screams. And many, though not all, of the once-Ashynnied poured out of the Forest clutching their eyes and ears, scrabbling at the dirt as though trying to bury themselves, and generally acting crazier than normal. They were babbling about their strings and the light and how they wanted back in but they couldn’t get back in. Their talk got more desperate and more hostile and then we went on the attack. Don’t be surprised if you see us in your town. We have no recourse and nowhere to go. Without the guidance and comfort of the Dark, we will take our madness out on the world. And they will dance with us on the edge of this sword… or dance another type of dance on the end of a belt. See you soon!

Record Slumber Session Ends

A young woman, who wished to withhold her name from the article, has woken up from a three month slumber. Local doctors are stunned by a duration that they believe was unaided by alchemical or magical interference. When questioned about the unusual circumstances, she punched the reporter [me] and claimed that…

“Losing a fight real hard is a chump move… and that chump ain’t allowed to be awake with her posse. I’m not saying I lost a fight or anything but if I did, I might not show my face around for a while. So what if I like sleeping? I was tired. When did that become a crime, nerd?”

She refused further comment.

Her mother spoke to us and reported she is happy and relieved that her daughter is well and seems to be acting like herself again. She was unable to offer an explanation for the unusual circumstances.

We will not be providing any follow up information due to the threatening nature of the young woman.

Lav’Endros Will Not Be Abased!

House Lav'Endros

In a speech that stirred the hearts of those faithful to the Noble House Lav’Endros, Baroness Lobea Lav’Endros declared that her house will not tolerate the fear tactics and slandering that House Windlock has been utilizing. On the 7th day of Reapingdusk the Baroness, accompanied by several members of the Banta Kinswae, confidently strode out of the woods and into her manor house in Elmerton, roughly grabbing two Windlock guardsmen by their collars and dragging them inside. Throwing them to her feet, she called the attention of all within the House and, with a snarl of defiance and her long teeth bared in anger, spoke the following:

“It ends tonight! House Windlock will no longer use their influence to incite Fear in my House. We will not be bullied and we will not have our reputations dragged through the mud. We are not beasts to be reviled, but are people to be Respected and, yes, even Feared when crossed. The Noble House of Lav’Endros will, as we always have, overcome all odds and we WILL NOT SURRENDER! Windlock may have tried to stir up doubt in the Kingdom, but Lav’Endros will band together and prove them wrong. And I will lead them. I will NOT be forced out again and I AM NOT afraid. Consequences, be damned! Let Windlock try its best and watch as they fall to the Tree and Wolf!”

Amidst enthusiastic applause, she snarled again at the Windlock guardsmen and left the room, growling something under her breath that sounded like, “…and now, to Simon.” The tension between the two Houses is growing more palpable, and everyone- with the exception of the Baroness- is waiting with bated breath to see how House Windlock responds to this statement and act of defiance.

Bakeries Beset by Blackgates

Medieval_bakerA number of bakeries, grain mills, and caravans carrying baked goods in the Fiddlehead Hills have been hit hard by groups of ravenous individuals seeking breads, grain, and pastries. However, in some tragic cases, these individuals, many of whom seem to be touched by Shadow energies, have not stopped at stealing the baked goods and have viciously attacked and, awful as it may sound, eaten anyone nearby. Terrified witnesses claim that this wicked hunger only extends to adults, but even though small children are spared, they are often kidnapped. One child was found alone deep within an as-of-yet harvested wheat field. Upon finding her, her rescuers claim that they saw a number of figures disappearing into the field, though they were unable to apprehend them.

Research into  various nearby towns have suggested that these awful cannibals could be the terrors known as the Blackgate family, though why their primary target seems to be bakers and the like has not yet been identified. If the attacks continue, it is likely that the price of flour, grains, and baked goods may increase. Please note that these terrifying individuals are cannibalistic, generally fairly strong, and may possess the ability to cast as Shadows do. It is advised that you do not attempt to engage them on your own, and keep doors and windows locked at night.

Annual Brewers’ Guild Auction Postponed Until Further Notice

Wine barrelDue to extenuating circumstances the Brewers’ Guild of Irvanshire has declared that they will be postponing the annual Brewers’ Guild Harvest Festival and Auction until further notice. Strange abnormalities in this year’s Harvest grains and unexplained phenomena occurring everywhere from the fields to grain storage to breweries and in the taverns themselves has caused the well-known Irvanshirian portion of the Guild to halt production on their various brews and even to recall a portion of them- primarily those made from ingredients native to the areas in and around the South Farthings, the Fiddlehead Hills, and the Go-Betweens. The Brewers’ Guild also advises brewers the kingdom over to bring them any unusual brews or unexplained stories so that they can further investigate, however, they were unclear as to the exact nature of the incidents.

Regretfully, this unfortunate series of events has required the attentions of most of the areas Brewers, thus disallowing the Guild to coordinate and execute all the necessary duties needed in order to put on the Harvest Festival this year. The Brewers’ Guild would like to apologize for any inconvenience.

Windlock Meets Gruesome End in Elmerton

Citizens of Irvanshire,

I have witnessed a terrible sight. Late on the evening of the 30th of Stillbreeze, I watched members of that glorious and noble House Windlock head to the town of Elmerton. Their task was to simply register the appropriate members of House Lav’Endros as Banta Kinswae, merely a bureaucratic measure. What was horrifying was what followed.

The members and guards of House Windlock did not return accomplished – they fled from the town, running for their lives. Banta Kinswae chased them out, but they did not stop there. They viciously slaughtered every one of those members of the House of Windlock.

What started out as a peaceful mission ended in bloodshed, due to the violence of the Banta Kinswae. I fear for House Windlock. Will every one of them come to such a terrible and gruesome end?

With sincerest sentiments,
A Concerned Citizen

Banta Kinswae Attack Irvanshirian Guardsmen

Several members of the Irvanshirian Guardsmen were viciously attacked by a number of members of the group known as the Banta Kinswae in the first few days of Stillbreeze. The attack occurred during a Security Training Assessment. A Lav’Endros caravan was moving through The South Farthings when it encountered a security training checkpoint. The checkpoint was to designed to assess the adequacy of the defensive responses of the Noble House using a staged attack. Once the initial phase was carried out, the Guardsmen would reveal themselves as such to the Nobility and provide a report on their response time and tactics. Any weaknesses in defense would be recorded and a group of the Guardsmen would be provided to train the Noble Guard appropriately. All Irvanshirian Noble Houses received missive of the possibility of encountering the checkpoints and were instructed to halt their defensive actions once the Guard had revealed itself.

After the initial phase of the Lav’Endros Training Assessment, during which many of the Lav’Endros guards morphed into what appeared to be Wolf-men or werewolves, the Guardsmen revealed themselves, but the defensive actions of the Lav’Endros guard did not stop and, in fact, became increasingly violent. Five of the six Guardsmen were killed and the other was seriously wounded before the Lycanthrope guards backed down.

Several Noble Houses are outraged over the incident, noting the severity of the tragedy and the apparent inability of the Banta Kinswae members to control their violent tendencies while in Lycanthropic forms- a characteristic of the members of the fringe group that is one of the most important facets binding the pack together and which distinguishes them from other dangerous Lycanthropes. Additionally, the ability of the leaders within House Lav’Endros to control its members and guards was questioned by several Noble Houses as well and has been a topic of concern amongst the Irvanshirian nobility.

Though House Lav’Endros has issued a apology for the attack, especially to the families of the victims, they have not offered comment on whether or not the guards were out of control of their forms during the attack or whether the violence was deliberate. In either instance, the potential danger surrounding the House and the Banta Kinswae is almost palpable. However, it is rumored that measures are being taken to keep the situation from occurring again and to insure the safety of the non-lycanthropic nobility of House Lav’Endros as well as her constituents and the people she serves.
